Ink and Techniques
Plastisol: This is the most common ink used in the screen printing industry. Plastisol ink lays on top of the garment and provides a vibrant, solid and lasting print. We stock this standard ink in a wide variety of colors as well as offer custom pantone ink color matching.
Water Base: Water base inks are eco-friendly and water soluble. The ink absorbs to the fibers of the garment achieving a soft hand touch. Water base inks are considered premium and desirable for achieving a high end look.
Discharge: Discharge ink is a water based product that is formulated by adding an activator to the ink in order to remove the dye from the fabric, almost as if you were “bleaching” away the color of the shirt in order to “re-dye” the fabric with the ink we print on top.. Discharge works best on natural fabrics such as 100% cotton.
Metallic: These inks are infused with small particles to create a shimmer look. They are great for creating a foil or glitter imitation.
Neon/Reflective: We stock the standard neon ink colors- pink, orange, yellow, green, blue- as well as a reflective ink that is used on garments such as safety work uniforms.
Puff: Mixing a puff additive with your base plastisol ink adds dimension and texture to your custom print. We were able to replicate a classic New York subway tile sign on these shirts. This type of print has a minimum order, for more information contact our specialist at contact@hub92prints.com⇒
4-Color Process: This is the method used by printers to re-create photo realistic images on a t-shirt. 4-color process utilizes standard CMYK colors blended together through the use of halftone dots to create a full spectrum of color. On the colors t-shirts we add the white underbase, so the process is W+CMYK.
